Visa Championships - May 26th, 2008 - Houston TX

Memorial Weekend held special interest to 3 athletes from All World Gymnastics as they headed to the US National Championships for Trampoline and Tumbling in Houston, TX.  Corey Whitfield, 23, represented AWTT in the Senior Elite Division of double mini.  His high degree of difficulty and execution landed him in 4th place, an excellent showing for his first senior elite nationals. In the Junior Elite Men’s Division, Aaron Cook, 15, who earlier this season took 2nd place in double mini at the World Age Group Games, gained his first national title.  In addition, after landing his triple back somersault, the youngest in the world to complete such a skill, Aaron placed second in Junior Elite Men’s power tumbling.  Finally, in the Junior Elite Women’s Division, 12 year old Shelby Allen, AWTT’s only female representation and newcomer to the elite level took 9th place in power tumbling, but is one to watch as she too is the youngest gymnast in the world competing a double twisting double back in a laid out position. Congratulations to each of the athletes.
